Elie Okobo has joined France’s training camp and is getting ready for the upcoming EuroBasket (September 1-18).

Coming off a decent season with ASVEL Villeurbanne, the young guard has his sights set on leading France to the gold medal.

“Every time I go to the training camp and play games with the national team, I always learn a lot. That’s a very positive and constructive experience and I always embrace it.

I am taking it one step at a time. The first one is the next window, and after that there is the EuroBasket, which could be the best continental tournament ever. The goal is to win, and all the guys are very excited,” Elie Okobo told FIBA.

The newly-acquired guard of Monaco is part of the 15-man preliminary roster of France, which is getting ready for the games against the Czech Republic (August 24) and Bosnia and Herzegovina (August 27) for the Second Round of the Basketball World Cup Qualifiers.

France will travel to Cologne in late August and will take on Germany, Lithuania, Hungary, Bosnia and Slovenia in Group B of the first round of the EuroBasket.
