Baskonia has made official the signing of Dani Diez, as the club stated earlier in its social media accounts. Diez, 29, inked a one-year contract, having previous experience in the EuroLeague with Unicaja Malaga and Real Madrid.

In other European club continental competitions, he has made 29 appearances in the FIBA Basketball Champions League and played 40 games in EuroCup. From 2015 to 2019, Diez played for Unicaja, and then jumped to Iberostar Tenerife for the next two seasons.

He spent the 2021-22 season at San Pablo Burgos. He was selected by the Utah Jazz with the 54th overall pick of the 2015 NBA draft and then his draft rights were traded to the Portland Trail Blazers.

Diez is the fourth signing of the offseason for Baskonia after Daulton Hommes, Markus Howard and Maik Kotsar. In San Pablo Burgos, Diez averaged 7.8 points and 5.7 rebounds on 52.4 percent shooting from beyond the arc.
