Giannis Antetokounmpo to start practicing with rest of Greek NT

Giannis Antetokounmpo returned to Greece in order to join the national team ahead of the FIBA Basketball World Cup qualifiers and the EuroBasket 2022, which will take place in September.

The Milwaukee Bucks’ superstar will start training with the rest of the team on August 4 along with his brother Thanasis and Tyler Dorsey, who signed a two-way deal with the Dallas Mavericks this summer.

Per the FIBA-NBA agreement, NBA players can be part of the preparation period of their national team for 28 days before major FIBA tournaments and 14 days before the Olympics.

Antetokounmpo was present in the Greek NT’s preparation from day 1 but was unable to participate in practice. FC Barcelona guard Nick Calathes also joined the team on Tuesday, one day after the official start of the training camp.
