Miami Heat center Omer Yurtseven will reportedly miss the EuroBasket 2022 as he prefers to shift his focus to the new NBA season. Basketfaul (h/t Eurohoops) first reported the news of Yurtseven skipping the national team training camp.
According to Turkish journalist Umit Avci (h/t Basketnews), Â the big man did not appear in the Turkey national team’s training camp and will not play in the upcoming major tournament. The big man played in the latest game of Turkey NT on July 9.
The 24-year-old big man is currently in Miami where he where he attended the Jr Heat camp yesterday. He posted some photos of the event on his social media profiles. This is not the first time Yurtseven skips NT’s activities.
He also received an 8-game suspension for the same reason in 2018. Yurtseven became the second Miami Heat player to skip EuroBasket 2022 after rookie Serbian forward Nikola Jovic.
Turkey will play in Group A of EuroBasket against Montenegro, Georgia, Spain, Bulgaria, and Belgium.
