Joffrey Lauvergne made an interesting statement about him and Nando De Colo joining ASVEL Villeurbanne this offseason.
The French big man believes that he and De Colo will help ASVEL change its status and become a contender in the EuroLeague.
“The arrival of Nando and me are proof that the club wants to change status. The challenge is great because ASVEL wants to compete to make the EuroLeague Final Four within five years. It convinced me.
The project is clearly to make the EuroLeague playoffs and this is why we have a competitive team,” Lauvergne said in an interview with BeBasket.
After an impressive start (6-2), ASVEL Villeurbanne failed to remain competitive and got eliminated from the EuroLeague playoffs. At the same time, they closed the season in the best way possible by winning the French League title.
Next season, they aim to win the domestic titles and also become a legit playoff contender in the EuroLeague.
Aside from Joffrey Lauvergne and Nando De Colo, ASVEL Villeurbanne signed another five players, making several changes to its roster.
