Kostas Sloukas will be among Greece’s leaders in the upcoming EuroBasket and likes the team’s chances for winning a medal.

The superstar guard of Olympiacos said he and his teammates have the potential to go all the way in the tournament, but they first need to work on their chemistry and find their role in the team’s tactics.

“I’m one of the older players on this team, and it has been like that for the last couple of years. My role on the team is the same, I always put myself and my talent under the country’s banner to achieve something great.

This year, the timing and circumstances are good and there have been some changes we all know so I’m very optimistic.

There’s a big trust for the coach who is very experienced and renowned, as is the entire staff. Now, we have to work together in order to make good use of the time we have to the maximum, as well as the preparation games and practices for the big goal we have ahead of us: The EuroBasket but also the two games of the 2023 World Cup Qualifiers that will come before,” Sloukas told the Greek Basketball Federation.

With Giannis Antetokounmpo as the undisputed leader, Greece aims to return to the top of Europe and win a medal for the first time since 2009.

Greece will play a total of five preparation games ahead of the tournament, while they will face Serbia (road, August 25) and Belgium (home, August 28) for the Second Round of the Basketball World Cup Qualifiers before the official start of the EuroBasket.

Greece will travel to Milano in late August for the group stage of the EuroBasket, where they will take on hosts Italy, Estonia, Great Britain, Ukraine and Croatia.
