Goran Dragic eventually decided to join Slovenia for one last major FIBA tournament and expects tough competition in the EuroBasket.

The star guard of the Chicago Bulls has very high expectations for the defending champions, but admitted that this will be his ‘toughest championship’ so far.

“This will be my toughest championship so far. I think a lot of national teams have players from the NBA. I believe that we will have good chances.

I did not return to the national team to play for fifth or sixth place. The desire is for a medal, but now, as I said, it is necessary to go step by step,” Goran Dragic told Slovenian media, via Eurohoops.net.

The addition of Goran Dagic to the roster further bolsters the team’s chances to successfully defend its EuroBasket title, placing the squad among the grand favorites for the gold medal.

The Slovenians have already started preparing for September’s tournament (1-18). Superstar guard Luka Doncic is set to join the training camp next week.

Slovenia will travel to Cologne in late August and will take on Lithuania, Hungary, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Germany, and France in the group stage of the EuroBasket (Group B).
