Tyler Dorsey spoke about his decision to part ways with Olympiacos and return to the NBA, joining the Dallas Mavericks.

The star guard confirmed talks with both the “Reds” and fellow EuroLeague powerhouse Fenerbahce and said he was undecided on whether he would re-sign with Olympiacos or he would join the Turks.

“I spoke with Fenerbahce and I was between Olympiacos and them. I hadn’t made a decision, I was between the two.

“Even now, in a hypothetical scenario, I don’t know what I would decide. Luckily the Mavericks showed up,” Dorsey told Sport24.gr on Saturday.

Tyler Dorsey had his sights set on playing the NBA again, so signing with Dallas was an easy decision for him, even if it was under a two-way contract.

“I’m glad Dallas came up and I didn’t have to decide because my goal was always the NBA. For me, it was a relatively easy decision because I waited 3-4 years for the opportunity to return to the NBA, even if it would be with a two-way contract.

I wanted to open that door again and I have a great opportunity with a great organization, a team that is excited for me and I for them,” Dorsey stated.

Tyler Dorsey now aims to help Greece win a medal in the FIBA EuroBasket (September 1-18). He is one of the key players in the roster, but he knows that chemistry will be crucial for team’s success.

“I think we have a great team, a great roster with a lot of talent. The timing is also important because we have a mix of players who are in their prime but also experienced players, so we just have to put it all in line, to build chemistry and learn how to play well together,” Tyler Dorsey added.

Greece will play a total of five preparation games ahead of the tournament, while they will face Serbia (road, August 25) and Belgium (home, August 28) for the Second Round of the Basketball World Cup Qualifiers before the official start of the EuroBasket.

Greece will travel to Milano in late August for the group stage of the EuroBasket, where they will take on hosts Italy, Estonia, Great Britain, Ukraine and Croatia.
