D’Angelo Russell says Rudy Gobert trade puts a ‘sky’s the limit’ type of vibe around Timberwolves

D’Angelo Russell opened up about the impact that Rudy Gobert trade will have on the Minnesota Timberwolves next season.

The star guard believes that the trade of the French big man has put a ‘sky’s the limit’ type of vibe around the Timberwolves.

“I didn’t really see that coming, but I knew that’s what we kind of lacked [last year,]. Just throughout the season we had it but we could have been better in that aspect and when you add one of the best to do it at that position on our team, I think it just kind of puts a ‘sky’s the limit’ type of vibe around our team.

We can answer from anywhere and I like that,” D’Angelo Russell said during an appearance on The Dane Moore Podcast on Thursday, VIA Sports illustrated.

Rudy Gobert joined the Timberwolves on July 1 via a trade from the Utah Jazz for five players and four first-round picks.

With the addition of the defensive specialist, the Timberwolves have emerged as a title contender, having their own version of Big Four in Rudy Gobert, D’Angelo Russell, Karl-Anthony Towns and Anthony Edwards.

Minnesota aims to have a deep playoff run next year for the first time after almost two decades. The franchise has made the playoffs just twice over the past 18 seasons.
