Giorgos Papagiannis is dealing with a muscular issue in the posterior femur and his participation in the FIBA EuroBasket is in jeopardy.
The big man of Panathinaikos hasn’t practiced with the team yet and it is unclear whether he will be ready on time for the tournament.
However, Greece’s GM remains optimistic that Papagiannis will be part of the roster that will compete in the EuroBasket.
“We expect him and Sloukas to soon be with us,” Greece GM Nikos Zisis said, via Eurohoops.net.
Even if Giorgos Papagiannis is part of Greece’s final roster, it is unclear what his condition will be and how much time he will spend on the floor.
Greece will play a total of five preparation games ahead of the tournament, while they will face Serbia (road, August 25) and Belgium (home, August 28) for the Qualifiers.
Greece will travel to Milano in late August for the group stage of the EuroBasket, where they will take on hosts Italy, Estonia, Great Britain, Ukraine and Croatia.
