With Juancho Hernagomez and Sergio Llull taking over, Spain led by as many as 13 in the first half (45-32) and were in front by five at halftime (45-40).

The Greeks went on an 0-15 run between the second and third quarter to take the lead (45-47), but the hosts responded and regained control with a 20-6 run of their own (65-53).

Things didn’t change much in the fourth quarter, with the visitors cutting the deficit to eight (79-71), which wasn’t enough to give them the victory.

Hernangomez had 23 points and 10 rebounds for the winners, whereas Dimitris Agravanis led all scorers with 24 points, on 7/8 shooting.

Spain will complete its preparation for the EuroBasket with a pair of games against Lithuania next week (August 16-18). For its part, Greece will play Georgia, Poland and Turkey in Athens in its remaining peparation games (August 17-19).

Following the Second Round of the Basketball World Cup Qualifiers (August 25-28), the two teams will travel to Tbilisi and Milano, respectively, to enter the group stage of the EuroBasket.
