Ergin Ataman says goal for Turkey is a medal in the FIBA EuroBasket

Ergin Ataman has high expectations for the national team of Turkey and believes his team will fight for a medal in the FIBA EuroBasket (September 1-18).

The head coach of Turkey and Anadolu Efes expects tough competition in the tournament, but is hopeful his team will reach at least the semi-finals.

“I know our fans have high expectations for the national team. We have worked on our chemistry and we should be united. Our goal is to win a medal and I am very excited about the opportunity to coach the national team.

We have set the bar high, but we know we will face tough competition. I want my players to be as excited about playing for Turkey as I am. Hopefully our last appearance in the tournament will be the gold medal on September 18,” Ergin Ataman told TRT Spor.

Turkey rallied past Ukraine on Thursday (96-70) and will take on Slovenia on Friday at Sinan Erdem Dome. Next week, they will play Georgia, Poland and Greece in Athens and will complete their preparation for the EuroBasket.
