After Italy’s loss to France Friday night the Azzuri’s head coach Gianmarco Pozzeco announced that he decided to trim the roster to 14 players cutting John Petrucelli. The Brescia’s guard averaged 10.2 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 1.1 assists last season.
Italy NT will travel to Montpellier to play again against France, while, they will conclude their preparation in the tournament in Hamburg against Serbia and Germany or the Czech Republic on 19 and 20 of August, respectively.
Before the start of the EuroBasket, there is an away match against Ukraine on 24 August and a home game against Georgia on 27 for the FIBA World Cup Qualifiers. Italy’s HC Pozzeco appeared satisfied after the close-fought loss to France Friday.
“There was a great intensity, and I am happy with the performance” the Italy NT head coach said after loss to France. “We passed the ball well, conceding little, and did the things we plan to do,” he continued.
