The Dallas Mavericks and Luka Doncic will reportedly face the Los Angeles Lakers and LeBron James on Christmas Day, per the latest report of NBA insider Marc Stein. Changes are still possible, as the NBA will announce the 2022-23 schedule next week.
However, per Stein, the Christmas Day usually holds after the first NBA season schedule draft. Luka Doncic faced LeBron James and the Lakers on Christmas Day back in 2020, and it was a night to forget for Dallas.
The defending champions dominated on their way to a 138-115 victory in Los Angeles. It will be the third straight year the Mavericks have played on Christmas, but Luka Doncic missed last year’s game as Dallas fell to the Utah Jazz.
Hopefully this season, Doncic will be present against LeBron James and the Lakers. The LA franchise is still searching for ways to improve the roster ahead of the 2022-23 season with Russell Westbrook being constantly in the trade rumor mill.
The first draft of next season's NBA schedule has Lakers at Dallas/LeBron at Luka on Christmas Day, league sources tell me.
Changes are still possible before the full schedule officially drops next week but Christmas games usually hold.
