The Denver Nuggets are showing interest in reuniting with Carmelo Anthony, who remains a free agent, as Sam Amico of Hoopswire reports. Anthony is coming off a strong season with the Lakers, despite the team’s poor performance.

More than a month before training camp begins, Carmelo Anthony’s future with the Lakers remains in question. The Nuggets added two-way veterans Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Bruce Brown.

Adding Anthony will add to the team’s depth, which one of the worst teams in bench minutes last season. Melo could also provide outside shooting if he were to sign with the Nuggets.

Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr. are also returning from injuries. With the offseason moves and players returning from injury, the Nuggets can compete in the Western Conference.

If they remain healthy, they could probably compete for a championship next season. The ten-time All-Star could be an important factor in the right environment, and the Nuggets seem poised to add more scoring from the bench.

Many believed the Lakers would re-sign Anthony, but he remains a free agent. However, Carmelo Anthony has been on the radar of many other teams. Having started his career in Denver, returning to the Mile High City could be a good decision.

The veteran star led the Nuggets to a Conference Finals appearance in 2009 for the first time in many years.
