After a triumphant run in the U20 European Championship, where he was the best player in the tournament, Juan Nunez made his debut with Spain NT in the team’s Thursday victory over Greek national team in Madrid.

“It’s very special to make my debut in your city and in your country. I have goosebumps, I’m very grateful. My teammates have congratulated me, I’ve gotten a few slaps. I’m very happy,” said the Madrid-born guard after Spain’s win vs Greece.

In a recent interview with Marca, the Spain national also addressed his future with Real Madrid. Núñez (1.91 m.) has played 24 games with Real Madrid in the ACB League, averaging 1.1 points, 0.8 rebounds and 0.8 assists in an average of 06:26 minutes.

“I can say little about my renewal with Madrid. Whatever happens, will happen”, he noted. “Madrid is a team that always has to win and it is difficult for young players to be able to find a role”.

“But the last few years, we have seen that there have been some who achieved it. That is the model to follow”, he concluded.

Los Blancos have already added several key veteran players ahead of the 2022-23 season including veteran Spanish guard and former national team star Sergio Rodriguez. In addition, they added Mario Hezonja and Petr Cornelie along with ACB MVP Dzanan Musa.
