Golden State Warriors shooting guard Jordan Poole, who was a crucial part of the 2022 championship run, could become a restricted free agent next summer and the Orlando Magic could be among the teams showing interest in the scoring guard.

“I’d watch out for the Magic to be ready to make an offer if he’s restricted, knowing there’s a good chance Golden State is not going to match,” one Eastern Conference executive told Heavy Sports about the guard’s future with his team.

The Magic are expected to have almost $60 million in salary-cap space in the summer of 2023 and they will be eager to make some winning moving after two-plus years of rebuilding.

After proving himself as an elite scorer and shooter with averages of 18.5 points, 4 assists, and 3.4 rebounds per game on 44.8% shooting, Poole will definitely be a much-mentioned target if he elects to become a free agent next summer.

Jordan Poole is definitely worth keeping around for Golden State, but they have way too much money on the payroll, especially with the looming extensions of Andrew Wiggins (next offseason) and Draymond Green potentially two year from now.

According to the latest reports, the scoring guard is expected to receive an offer worth around $100 million for four years from the Warriors. However, if Poole continues showcasing and expanding his game to an elite level, then the Warriors might need more to keep him around.

On the other side, Magic had a plethora of young guards available, and Poole could add some punch to Orlando’s offense if he decides to sign with the highest bidder next summer. In any case, Poole’s potential free agency will be an interesting story to follow next season.
