Greece NT trims roster to 16 ahead of Acropolis Tournament

Greece NT has cut its roster to 16 players as the Basketball Federation made known through an official statement ahead of the Acropolis Tournament, which will take place between 17 and 19 August.

Itoudis will have to cut four more players before September 2 when the EuroBasket starts for the Greek NT. Previously Itoudis has cut five other players from the roster. He cut two more younger members of the squad after today’s practise.

“After the end of today’s training, Dimitris Itoudis thanked Dimitris Moraitis and Yiannis Kouzeloglou for their presence in the team so far and the essential contribution they have had in the course so far , who will not continue the preparation.”

Namely Alex Antetokounmpo, Giorgos Tanoulis, Omiros Netzipoglou, Giorgos Tsalbouris, and Lefteris Mantzoukas were the first to not continue with the team. Greece will face Poland in the first after the defeat vs Spain the previous week.

Georgia and Turkey are also part of the Acropolis Tournament, which starts Wednesday. Itoudis will have the opportunity to see many of the things that have worked so far in the trainings and to draw useful conclusions for the rest of the preparation.

Thereafter, Greece NT will face Serbia (road, August 25) and Belgium (home, August 28) for the Basketball World Cup Qualifiers, before traveling to Milan for the opening phase of the EuroBasket 2022.
