Goran Dragic spoke with media and referred to the meteoric rise of NBA and Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic.
Dragic has been impressed by how much Luka Doncic has elevated his game since 2017 when Slovenia won the EuroBasket.
“Luka in 2017 and today… Like day and night. At that time, he was just starting his career at the highest level. Today, we all know what his name means in the basketball world. He was in the national team for the first time five years ago. We introduced it to him. Now he is the leader. I will follow him.
We expect a lot from him. He will certainly be one of the best players at the European Championship. I hope he is healthy. He will be able to show some good games,” Goran Dragic told media, via basketnews.
With Goran Dragic and Luka Doncic headlining the roster, the Slovenians enter the EuroBasket as the grand favorite to repeat.
Slovenia will wrap up its preparation next week and will face Eastonia (August 25) and Germany (August 28) in the tip-off of the Second Round of the Basketball World Cup Qualifiers.
They will then travel to Cologne in late August and will take on Lithuania, Hungary, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Germany, and France in the group stage of the EuroBasket (Group B).
