Victor Wembanyama is expected to make noise as a potential no.1 pick of the 2023 NBA Draft and several NBA teams are preparing to tank their way to the young Frenchman. Wembanyama talked about the potential jump to the NBA.
As it turns out, the youngster seems well aware of his rare combination of size and speed, and he recently admitted that he has been modeling his game after those of Kevin Durant and Giannis Antetokounmpo.
“If I gotta pick two, I’d say Giannis and K.D.,” he said. “Those are my two favorite players.” he told ESPN.
The former ASVEL prospect went on to refer to fellow Frenchman Rudy Gobert and said that he wants to be dominant like him in the defensive end. Right now, the expectation is that Wembanyama will be the crown jewel of the 2023 NBA Draft.
Victor Wembanyama sat down with @MikeCouzens & @PaulBiancardi during today's #AXEEuroTour broadcast on ESPN to discuss:

He seems to have the right combination of size, skill and work ethic to become a generational talent in the NBA like Kevin Durant and Giannis Antetokounmpo. The 18-year-old Frenchman was a member of LDCL ASVEL Villeurbanne since 2021.
2004-born Wenbanyama posted averages of 9.4 points and 5.1 rebounds per 18 minutes in the French League in 2021-22 with LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne. He was voted the league’s rising star.
He moved to Boulogne-Levallois Metropolitans 92 on a two-year deal, but he’s not expected to stay until the end of his contract with the French club.
