Spain NT reduced its roster to 16 players recently and Sergio Scariolo believes his team making progress towards realizing its potential. After a double header against Greece, Spain will face Lithuanian NT in a preparation match.
The first duel against the Valanciunas and Sabonis team will take place this Tuesday at the Gran Canaria Arena. Both teams will clash again a few days before the World Cup qualifiers in late August.
“We are making progress in our renovation and growth as a team. The team has to adapt to new situations, which requires a great effort from everyone,” Spain NT head coach Sergio Scariolo said.
“Against a team like Lithuania, which everyone sees as one of the favorites to win a medal we have to go out on the court pride, toughness, intensity and concentration,” he noted
With names like Gasol brothers and Sergio Rodriguez not with the team anymore, the Spanish NT knows that it will need great effort from everyone, performing in the best way possible as a team.
However, the Spain NT will always be considered one of the best squads in any competition, even without the star power that it had in the previous years. Here is the 16-man roster, as Sergio Scariolo is expected to cut four more players before the EuroBasket.
