San Antonio Spurs prospect Jeremy Sochan will not follow Poland in the EuroBasket 2022, the ninth overall pick of the 2022 NBA Draft announced via the official website of the Polish Basketball Federation.
“After long discussions with the San Antonio Spurs, my agent and family, we decided that I should stay in San Antonio and continue preparing for my first season in the NBA,” Sochan said.
Sochan, 19, was selected by the San Antonio Spurs with the ninth overall pick of the 2022 NBA Draft. He was forced to sit out the NBA Summer League due to health and safety protocols.
Moving on without Sochan, Poland will compete in Group D of EuroBasket against the Czech Republic, Finland, Israel, the Netherlands, and Serbia. Sochan was among the initial callups..
“I am only 19 years old. Proper physical and mental preparation for at least 82 games next season is extremely important for my development,” he noted. “I hope to become an important part of the Spurs and the Poland national team for years to come.”
