New York Knicks new offseason acquisition Jalen Brunson said he’s excited to face the challenges ahead of the 2022-23 campaign. The flamboyant guard explained he’s happy to work with head coach Tom Thibodeau during his appearance in “Good Word with Goodwill” podcast.

Brunson also noted that he relishes the challenges that the new environment in New York will bring, referring also to his pairing with Julius Randle. There’s going to be a lot of pressure on Jalen Brunson this coming season after signing a deal worth $104 million.

“Obviously Thibs is Thibs. I think I’ve learned how to carry the message out of everything. When someone is getting on you or someone’s trying to motivate you to be better, you can’t really worry about if he’s yelling or screaming or whatever,” Brunson said.

Apart from all the outside noise, Brunson will also have to deal with a considerable amount of internal pressure. The Knicks are one of the most famed franchises in the league and the fans are hungry for a successful season after a disappointing 2021-22 campaign.

Brunson came up big for the Mavericks during the team’s surprising run to the Western Conference Finals last spring. He will be the starting guard of a revamped Knicks’ roster, which aim at returning to the postseason.

“It’s going to be different for me, it’s going to be different for a lot of people,” Brunson said. “But I’ve never backed down from a challenge ever and I don’t plan on doing so here,” the Villanova product noted.

Brunson averaged 16.3 points and 4.8 assists last season, on 50.2% from the field and 37.3% from beyond the arc. He helped Dallas reach the Western Conference Finals for the first time since 2011.
