Ergin Ataman says Turkey has to play better ahead of BWC Qualifiers and EuroBasket

Ergin Ataman and Turkey will wrap up their preparation this week and will get ready for the Basketball World Cup Qualifiers and FIBA EuroBasket.

The head coach of Turkey spoke with media after his team’s 101-88 win over Georgia in the Acropolis Tournament and noted there is still plenty of room for improvement ahead of next week’s games.

“Every game in the EuroBasket will be a different story. We will see. It will be different for them, it will be different for us.

Tonight, I’m not so excited about some of the players but it’s ok, it’s only one game. The most important thing is how ready we will be for the two games against Latvia and Serbia,” coach Ataman said.

Turkey will face Latvia on the road on August 25 and will then host Serbia on August 28 in the Second Round of FIBA Basketball World Cup Qualifiers.

They will then travel to Tbilisi for the group stage of the EuroBasket. They will take on Montenegro, Georgia, Spain, Bulgaria and Belgium in Group A.
