Former NBAer Nenad Krstic says Serbia NT “has never been stronger”

Serbia NT is preparing for the EuroBasket after missing the Olympic Tournament last summer. The Serbs have an ambitious squad with Svetislav Pesic- an experienced EuroLeague coach- as the team’s selector.

Former NBAer and Serbia’s star Nenad Krstic believes that the national has never been stronger through the last few years. As for the senior men’s team, Krstic believes in the current squad under Pesic.

“If we’re talking about senior basketball, we are witnessing that our national team has never been stronger. We have the MVP of the Euroleague, MVP of the NBA, a top Euroleague player, and players who play important roles in NBA teams,” the Vice president of the Serbian Basketball Federation claimed in an interview with Mozzart Sport.

“There are also other teams from the region, such as Slovenia. They have good chemistry. Greece is strong with Giannis. There was a period of stagnation here, but basketball is rising again and this European Championship will be extremely interesting, perhaps the strongest and most competitive in recent years.”

With Nikola Jokic and Vaslije Micic headling the Serbia NT squad, Pesic and co. enter the final phase of the EuroBasket preparation with high expectations. The Serbians will take on Greece and Turkey in the first two games of the second round of the FIBA Basketball World Cup Qualifiers.

They will then travel to Prague for the group stage of the EuroBasket. They will face the Netherlands, Finland, Poland, Israel and the Czech Republic, who are hosting the event in Group D.
