Greece NT forward Papapetrou to miss time with hamstring issue

Greece NT forward Ioannis Papapetrous suffered a hamstring injury and he will likely miss the rest of the preparation ahead of the EuroBasket 2022. Hellenic Basketball Federation announced that Partizan star will follow a recovery program in hope to be ready for EuroBasket.

Papapetrou will also miss the game vs. Serbia for the FIBA Basketball World Cup qualifiers on August 25. The team will also have one more game vs Belgium in the 28th of August before the start of the EuroBasket.

“Kostis Gontikas suffered a fracture of the second metacarpal in his right hand, of course he cannot continue the effort and Yannis Kouzeloglou has already been informed and is returning to the team.

Ioannis Papapetrou felt discomfort in the hamstrings in his right leg, he will follow an individual recovery program and will not compete tonight (21.00) in the last match of the AEGEAN Acropolis tournament against Turkey,” the announcement reads.

Greece will travel to Milano in late August for the group stage of the EuroBasket, where they will take on hosts Italy, Estonia, Great Britain, Ukraine and Croatia.
