Newly signed Chicago Bulls big man Andre Drummond claimed he might be the best rebounder ever. Drummond, who changed multiple teams the last few years, is getting ready for the 2022-23 campaign with the Bulls.

He led the league in rebounds per game in 2015-16 and then again three seasons in a row from 2017-18 through 2019-20. He has averaged 13.3 boards per game throughout his career in Detroit, Los Angeles, Cleveland, Philadelphia and Brooklyn.

“I think I’m already there,” the Chicago Bulls center said, per Mike Anthony of CT Insider. “I’m on my way. By the time I retire, I’ll go down as the best rebounder ever—if not already.”

Drummond’s 9.3 rebounds per game in 2021-22 was his lowest mark since his rookie season in 2012-13. However, this was the longest tenure of his career coming off the bench, especially during his time with the Sixers.

Drummond’s 9,519 career rebounds ranks 46th all-time, but his average of 13.3 is 11th all-time. The 6-foot-10 center was among Connecticut’s top prospects and played one year at UConn. He is heading to the 11th year in the NBA.

He will also be a back-up in Chicago behind Nikola Vucevic. The Bulls re-signed Zach LaVine and hope to remain a prominent force in the East with DeMar DeRozan also in the squad. Last season, Chicago secured a playoff spot after six years.
