Germany beats Slovenia,Doncic

Dennis Schroder scored 17 points and dished 10 assists to lead Germany NT to a comfortable 90-71 victory over Luka Doncic and Slovenia.

It was the first defeat for Doncic this summer with the Slovenian national team, including exhibition games.

After a close first half in which the hosts had a 33-31 advantage, Germany got things under control in the third quarter with 28-15 run.

At the start of the fourth quarter, Germany NT led by 17 (67-50) and later on by 19 points (83-64) as Franz Wagner, Johannes Voigtmann and Schroder kept the hosts ahead.

Wagner finished with 16 points while Voigtmann had 11 along with 14 rebounds. Luka Doncic had a team and game high 23 points along with six assists and five rebounds.

The next stop for the two teams is the Eurobasket 2022, in which they compete in the same first-round group in Cologne, together with France, Lithuania, Hungary, and Bosnia.

The hosts remained on top of Group J of the European FIBA World Cup qualifiers with a 7-1 record, while Slovenia is third with a 5-3 record.
