Day 1 of the 2022 FIBA EuroBasket came to an end on Friday, with Groups C and D tipping off in Milano and Prague, respectively.
Group C
The action in Group C started with Ukraine dominating the Great Britain and cruising to an easy victory (90-61). The Ukrainians played very well on both ends and went on to win the game.
Later in the day, Giannis Antetokounmpo was the one that sealed the deal for Greece in the clash with Croatia. The Croatians came back from 17 points down in the second half, 36-53, 82-84), but Giannis scored the last five points of the Greeks, made two crucial blocks on defense and handed his team the win.
In the final game of the group, hosts Italy rallied past Estonia (83-62) and claimed their first win in the group.

Group D
In Group D of the EuroBasket, Deni Avdija and Israel survived a late thriller over Lauri Markkanen and Finland in the opening game of the group (89-87).
For its part, Poland was unstoppable offensively and rallied past the hosts Czech Republic (99-84), while Serbia dominated the Netherlands, scoring 100 points on offense (100-76).
