Manu Ginobili inducted to the Basketball Hall of Fame: “The Spurs were one big, strong, supportive family for me”

San Antonio Spurs and NBA legend Manu Ginobili was inducted in the Basketball Hall of Fame Saturday.

Ginobili was presented by Tim Duncan, already a Hall of Famer himself, and next year the third member of San Antonio’s legendary Big 3 of players — Tony Parker — will be eligible for selection.

“The Spurs were one big, strong, supportive family for me,” Ginobili said in his enshrinement speech and then proceeded to thank Spurs’ head coach Gregg Popovich.

“Pop, what can I say? You’ve been so, so important for me and my family, on and off the court, that’ll I never be able to thank you enough,” Ginobili said, with his voice cracking.

Manu won four titles with the Spurs during his 16-year career with the franchise, becoming a two-time All-Star and a Sixth Man of the Year winner in the process.

He became only one of two players (the other being Bob Bradley) to own a European championship, NBA Championship, and an Olympic gold medal.
