Steve Kerr reveals the area Jordan Poole has to improve next season

Jordan Poole was the 2022 breakout star for the Golden State Warriors as the shooting guard became a legit contributor in the offensive end besides Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson.

As a result, the Warriors became champion for the fourth time in the last eight years with Poole being among the most important players of the season for the 2022 champions.

Steve Kerr believes Poole has become an elite offensive weapon. However, he also believes that Poole has it in him to take the next step in his career and become a two-way presence.

“I don’t know that he can do anything more to step up offensively,” Kerr said in  95.7 The Game’s Damon & Ratto (h/t NBC Sports Bay Area). “So the area where he can still improve is at the defensive end.”

As Kerr said, Poole has already shown flashes of brilliance on the defensive end. However, it’s his consistency that he will need to improve to become an elite two-way player.

“I thought last year in the playoffs when he was fully engaged and really playing with physicality, he showed he can be a legit two-way player, but he knows he hasn’t become that consistently. And so, that’s the next step for Jordan.”

Poole is now entering the final year of his current deal with the Warriors. He’s set to earn $3.9 million in 2022-23, and he will be eligible for an extension next summer.

The Warriors will look to determine if the scoring guard can be a superstar player in the future in order to offer him a massive extension.
