The Spaniards defied the odds and reached the Final of a major FIBA tournament for another time. Even though they were considered the underdogs since entering the knockout stage, they defeated Lithuania, Finland and hosts Germany to make it to the Final.

Led by naturalized guard Lorenzo Brown, Spain proved doubters wrong and has a chance to become European champions, 3 years after becoming World champions in Beijing, China (2019).

Team effort, quick ball movement and defensive adjustments are the main characteristics of Sergio Scariolo’s team, which currently has the momentum on its side.

On the other hand, France was one of the four teams that entered the tournament as the grand favorite for the gold medal, alongside Greece, defending champions Slovenia and Serbia.

With the aforementioned teams out, the French now have a golden opportunity to claim the EuroBasket title and solidify their position as the top team in Europe.

Vincent Collet has a very talented and deep roster, especially in the frontcourt line with Rudy Gobert, Vincent Poirier and Moustapha Fall.

France survived overtime thrillers vs Turkey (86-87) and Italy (93-85), but decimated Poland in the semi-final to advance to the Final (54-95).

Lorenzo Brown, the Hernangomez brothers and Rudy Fernandez lead the way for Spain, while Evan Fournier and Rudy Gobert are France’s top players.

An exciting game is expected at Mercedes-Benz Arena on Sunday, with all bets being off, as both teams have proved they are capable of winning the EuroBasket title.

The game tips off at 20:30 CET and you can watch it live at Courtside1891. In the bronze medal game, Germany will take on Poland at 17:15 CET.
