Jorge Garbajosa on adding Lorenzo Brown to Spain NT: “It was the right thing”

After the triumph in the EuroBasket Final vs France, the current president of the Spain NT’s Basketball Federation Jorge Garbajosa was asked on the naturalization of Lorenzo Brown, who received the Spanish passport before the start of the preparation for the tournament.

“It was the right thing,” Garbajosa said to Hedgeout.net and other accredited media. “I can’t understand everybody: everyone has their own opinion, and I respect all of them.

But when you work hard and you have been advised by experts, coaches, and sports directors after the injury of Ricky Rubio, or Carlos Alocen. After Sergio Rodriguez quits or the injury of Sergio Llull… he was the right key”.

Spain was pretty undermanned in the point guard position entering the preparation for the 2022 EuroBasket. Lorenzo Brown was chosen to take the point guard role and thrived throughout the competition with his skill.

He was named as one of the All-Star 5 of the tournament alongside Dennis Schroder in the perimeter, while he had 14 points and 11 assists in the championship game as his performance was followed by 29-point explosion vs Germany in the semifinal.

“His performance on the court shows how committed he is to our basketball. Playing for Spain was his dream, and for us, it’s a huge honor,” Garbajosa said on Brown.
