Milan’s Naz Mitrou-Long excited ahead of 2022-23 EuroLeague season

Naz Mitrou-Long will make his EuroLeague debut with Olimpia Milan this season and the former Brescia scoring guard expressed his excitement ahead of the 2022-23 season campaign.

Expecting a higher physicality level in EuroLeague, the former Utah Jazz guard says he’s ready for the challenge ahead of the new season beginning in few weeks.

“Everyone says it’s an extremely physical league, and I expect it to be. But I’ve been playing pro for a few years now, I think I’m ready, I’ve seen physicality everywhere, in college, in the NBA,” Mitrou-Long said.

Every day I work to make myself ready for this kind of physicality and contribute to the good results of the team.”

Born in Missisauga, Ontario, Canada, the 29-years-old started his career as a promising college prospect coming off three season with Iowa State. He joined the Utah Jazz as an undrafted rookie in 2017 and remained there for three seasons.

Last season, he appeared in 29 LBA games, he averaged 16.5 points, 4.7 assists and 4.5 rebounds per game, shooting 36.4 percent from three-point range. He was the LBA playoffs top-scorer, averaging 24.4 points per game, while leading the league in assists (7.2).

“It’s my second year in Italy, I can’t say enough about how well I felt here, in this country, in my first year. I fell in love with Italy,” the Milan’s scoring guard noted.

Olimpia is an organization with great leadership, from top to bottom, and I feel I’m ready, I’m proud to be part of such a professional group, of this culture. When you play in Milan, you do it to win and it is no coincidence that they have won a lot.”

Milan will start in LBA on October 2 and then will begin its new adventure in the EuroLeague on October 6 vs. LDLC ASVEL.
