Udoka had an affair with a female employee of the organization, which is a violation of the team’s rules, and will not coach the Celtics this season.
Following the official announcement, coach Udoka shared a statement where he accepts the franchise’s decision and apologises for letting the squad down. Assistant coach Joe Mazzulla has been named the interim head coach and takes over the team for the entire season.
During his rookie season as head coach, Ime Udoka managed to lead the Celtics to the 2022 NBA Finals, where Boston lost to the Golden State Warriors (4-2).
