Jorge Garbajosa expects Lorenzo Brown to play for Spain until 2024 Olympic Games

Jorge Garbajosa shared his excitement about Lorenzo Brown playing for Spain in the 2022 FIBA EuroBasket. The American guard, who competed as a naturalized player, was one of the main reasons for the team’s success in the tournament.

Lorenzo Brown averaged 15.2 points, 1.8 rebounds, 7.6 assists, 1.2 steals and a PIR of 16.7 in nine EuroBasket games. He even had 14 points and 11 assists in the Final against France, where the Spaniards claimed the title (88-76).

“For all purposes, 12 Spaniards have played. Despite what they say, Lorenzo has felt the weight of the Spanish shirt like other national team members, and to say otherwise would be untrue.

He celebrated the victory probably the most. The team loves him a lot, and it could be seen throughout the whole tournament,” Garbajosa told MARCA.

The president of the Spanish Basketball Federation also revealed that he expects Lorenzo Brown to play for Spain both in the 2023 Basketball World Cup and the 2024 Olympic Games.

“Lorenzo is not here for just a single EuroBasket. I don’t like someone who comes to give us a hand and say goodbye. The idea is that Lorenzo will continue with us. A program is for at least three years, the cycle until the Paris Olympics [2024],” Garbajosa added.

Spain defied the odds and returned to the top of Europe, while they now are both World Cup champions and EuroBasket champions.
