FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup: Day 3 Round up

Day 3 of the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup included three games, as Team USA beat China (2-1) 77-63 in a game for Group A to advance to the quarterfinals of the tournament. A’ja Wilson led the winners (3-0) with 20 points.

China (2-1) experienced its first defeat in the competition despite Meng Li scoring 21 points. With Leeseul Kang setting multiple records with her 37-point performance as she carried her team to a 99-66 victory against Bosnia and Herzegovina.

This was the first win in the competition for Korea (1-2) and the first win in the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup after 11 attempts. Kyara Linskens scored 24 rebounds and added 13 rebounds to lead Belgium to a 65-58 victory over Puerto Rico.

In the close-fought battle, Puerto Rico (1-2) saw Arella Guirantes scoring 27 points but that was not enough for the Puerto Rican team. Belgium improved to 2-1 in Group A tied with China for second behind the U.S team that remained perfect in the tournament.
