Barcelona, Real Madrid collide in Spanish Supercopa Final

Barcelona and Real Madrid advanced to the Final of the Spanish Supercopa and will collide for the first trophy of the season on Sunday.

The Catalans needed an impressive performance by Nicolas Laprovittola (26 points, six rebounds, 7/10 from beyond the arc) to rally past Badalona in the semi-final (91-74).

Laprovittola scored 15 of his 26 points in the third (4/7 from three) and led his team to a 29-14 run, helping the “Blaugrana” take control and never look back. Barcelona outscored Badalona 52-28 in the second half and cruised to the victory.

The Catalans will now take on Real Madrid, which decimated hosts Real Betis in the first semi-final of the tournament (100-69).

Newcomer Dzanan Musa led the way for the winners with 21 points (15 of them in the second half) and 7 assists, as the “Whites” crushed their opponents in the second half and outscored them 55-37 to win the game.

Following Sunday’s clash, the two Spanish giants will shift their focus on the start of the season in the ACB and the EuroLeague.

In their opening game in the EuroLeague, Real Madrid will play Panathinaikos in Athens (October 6) and Barcelona will host Olympiacos a day later (October 7).
