Real Madrid beats FC Barcelona in OT to win 5th straight Supercopa

In an overtime thriller, Real Madrid prevailed over FC Barcelona 89-83 to win the Liga Endesa Supercopa for the fifth straight season. Walter Tavares was the best performer with 24 points, 12 rebounds and 5 blocks for the winning side.

After a balanced first quarter, Kyle Kuric hit a couple of three-pointers, assisted another basket by Jan Vesely and gave his side an eight-point lead (31-23). The Catalans pushed the lead to 12 before Real bounce back in the third period.

Sergio Llull and Dzanan Musa combined for 15 points in the third period, where Real Madrid made a 15-0 run. The Whites outscored their rivals 26-12 in the third quarter. With less than seven minutes left, Rudy Fernandez fell and hurt his right wrist.

The 37-year-old forward went straight to the bench, from which he never returned. With the score 71-69 for Madrid, Tobey evened the contest at 71 apiece. Deck missed from the top of the key in the last shot of regulation and the game went to OT.

In the OT, the two teams went back and forth before Real Madrid made a 6-0 run in the last minute to run away with the win. Sertac Sanli was the top scorer for the Catalnas with 21 points. Dzanan Musa was also crucial for the winning side with 19 points.
