Bucks’ Khris Middleton likely out for the start of the 22-23 season

The Milwaukee Bucks 3-time All-Star Khris Middleton is expected to be out ahead of the start of the 2022-23 season, as the player revealed during the Bucks’ media day. Middleton underwent surgery on his left wrist this summer.

Middleton said he played through the wrist injury late last season before undergoing surgery. He was wearing a cast for much of the offseason before having it removed two weeks ago.

Middleton sprained the medial collateral ligament in his right knee during Game 2 of the Bucks’ first-round playoff series with the Chicago Bulls and didn’t play again for the rest of the postseason as the Bucks went down in 7 games against Boston in the second round.

“I’d like to,” he said on his return timeline during an interview with Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

“I would like to, but I’ve learned in the past to trust my training staff and doctors. They know what they’re doing. This is my first time going through this and they’ve been through it many times and they’ve seen what works and what doesn’t. So I’ve learned just to listen to them. I mean, you can push yourself, but don’t really.”

Middleton is expected to miss some time for Milwaukee early on. It may be weeks before we see him take the floor. In any case, the Bucks, with Giannis Antetokounmpo leading them, can still be one of the best teams in the East.
