Draymond Green addressed the possibility of the Golden State Warriors offering him a contract extension soon.

The four-time NBA champion is entering a contract year, as his final season with the team (2023/24) will be a player option. Green views himself as a max-level player and is willing to evaluate his options in the market if the reigning champions don’t offer him a max deal.

“At this point, whether I’d like to or not… I don’t think it will happen so I’m just focused on this season and being as great as I can be as I know I’m capable of being, and winning another championship, reaching my individual goals as well. That’s my main focus,” the veteran forward told media during the Warriors’ Media Day.

Draymond Green averaged just 7.5 points, 7.3 rebounds and 7 assists per game last season, helping Golden State return to the top of the NBA after three years. He still has two years and $53.4M left on his current contract.

Since August 3rd, Green is eligible to sign a max deal and it remains to be seen whether the two sides will pursue an agreement in the coming weeks.
