Joel Embiid set the tone early on the mindset he wants the Philadelphia 76ers to have as they aim to win the NBA championship.
The superstar big man wants to see his teammates focus on defense and help the Sixers become the best defensive team in the league.
“We know what we have to do but I’ll say our focus is on defense. We aim to be the best defensive team in the league.
That’s gonna take all of us. I got to get back to not waiting until the fourth to be that guy and then doing it all game,” Embiid said during Philadelphia’s Media Day.

Joel Embiid also noted that great defense will help the Sixers improve their offense too, giving them opportunities to run in transition and score easy points.
With James Harden returning in a much better shape and the addition of defensive specialists, like PJ Tucker, Montrezl Harrell and Danuel House, the Sixers have the potential to become a top defensive team and boost their chances to reach the NBA Finals.
