NBA Fantasy: Projected underappreciated picks ahead of 2022-23 season

NBA season is getting closer and closer and several NBA Fantasy players are preparing their rosters ahead of the opening day October 19.

Here are some underappreciated picks ahead of the NBA season opener:

Franz Wagner – Orlando Magic

After a successful rookie season, Franz Wagner is ready for the next step in his second NBA year. Coming off strong EuroBasket play, helping Germany NT to Bronze, he is expected to have an increased role in the offense. Wagner will need to make a leap in the defensive end to become an early pick in your NBA Fantasy team. In any case, he could be a sleeper in this year’s fantasy leagues.

Tyrese Maxey – Philadelphia 76ers

Tyrese Maxey was an unexpected protagonist for the Philadelphia 76ers last season amid the Ben Simmons drama, which ended in February with a blockbuster trade for James Harden. As Daryl Morey said recently, Tyrese Maxey will be the biggest factor for the Sixers’ title chances this year. Playing as a combo guard, Maxey can improve his scoring numbers.

Bones Hyland – Denver Nuggets

This season could be a huge one for Bones Hyland and the Denver Nuggets. His NBA fantasy value increased after Denver traded Monte Morris to the Washington Wizards last summer. The Nuggets could use him as a leader of the bench mob, or even play him with Jamal Murray in two-guard lineups. Furthermore, he could receive increased minutes at the start of the season, as Murray is expected to be under minute restriction.

Devin Vassell – San Antonio Spurs

San Antonio are going to be a deep lottery team this season and Gregg Popovich will try to help his team grow. Devin Vassell has shown some growth as a player last season as a two-way option for his team. He will have an even bigger role this year. Vassell will add shooting ability and defense to your NBA Fantasy team. With Keldon Johnson out, he could be the no.1 option in San Antonio’s offense at the start of the season.

Andrew Wiggins – Golden State Warriors

Another high upside wing for NBA Fantasy connoisseurs, Andrew Wiggins had an incredible run in last season’s playoffs being a two-way menace for the 2022 NBA Champions. He was vital in the Warriors’ championship run, and he will enter the final year of his current deal. Wiggins might outplay his value as he will strive to get paid next summer. More importantly, he’s important for the Warriors in both ends of the floor.
