EuroLeague Rumors: Real Madrid, Shannon Evans nearing a deal

Real Madrid are looking to bolster its backcourt early in the season and Los Blancos are close to a deal with Real Betis guard Shanon Evans, Mate Al Aro reports.

Real Madrid reportedly offered a two-year contract to the player, with 1.2 million euros for each season. Coming off a strong start in the EuroLeague and ACB, Madridistas has several players absent in the perimeter.

Alberto Albalde missed multiple games with injuries, while Carlos Alocen is recovering from a severe knee injury and is out indefinitely. Nigel Williams-Goss is also out at the start of the 2022-23 campaign.

Real Madrid ended up with veterans Sergio Rodriguez and Sergio Llull being the only two options in the guard position, while Dzanan Musa has been used sporadically as the primary playmaker through the first five games of the season.

Following the report, Shannon Evans responded to the rumors saying he has no idea about any interest from Real Madrid.

“I have no idea. I saw a tweet today before the game against Fuenlabrada but I haven’t had a chance to talk to my agent. Right now I’m focused on playing with Betis.

I have no news, nothing. I haven’t talked to my agent yet and I’m not sure what’s happening,” he told EFE, per Marca.com.

Shannon Evans never played in the EuroLeague, but kept Real Betis afloat and away from the relegation in ACB last season. He averaged 17.4 points, three rebounds, and 6.8 assists per contest in the Spanish league last year.
