Grizzlies’ Jaren Jackson Jr. to make season debut vs Pelicans

Jaren Jackson Jr. is going to make his season debut for the Memphis Grizzlies on Tuesday against the New Orleans Pelicans, barring any setbacks. Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report first reported the news.

That’s huge news for the Memphis Grizzlies, who saw their starting big missing the team’s first 14 games of the 2022-23 campaign as he recovers from a foot surgery in the offseason.

Jaren Jackson Jr. is undoubtedly one of the most important pieces for the Grizzlies, perhaps only behind Morant. Ja Morant is also set to play after missing one game due to sore ankle.

Jackson Jr. averaged 16.3 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game in 2021-22, establishing himself as one of the top defending bigs in the league.

Surely, the 23-year old center will need time to find his footing. Not to mention that the Grizzlies are expected to be cautious with his minutes. In any case, his return is certainly important for Memphis, which started the 2022-32 with a 9-5 record.
