Barcelona used a strong fourth-quarter performance and claimed a big road win over Real Madrid in the Spanish Clasico (78-87).
The “Whites” led by five late in the third (57-52), but the Catalans took over after that and outscored their opponents 21-35 the rest of the game to seal the deal.
Cory Higgins scored 14 of his 18 points in the fourth quarter, while Nicolas Laprovittola added 19 and six assists for the winners. On the other hand, Walter Tavares had 19 points, 11 rebounds and three blocks for the losing squad.
Following the win over their rivals, Barcelona climbed to the top of the ACB standings with an 11-3 record, tied with Real Madrid.
The two powerhouses will remain in action this week as the “Blaugrana” host Virtus Bologna (Thursday) and Real Madrid will take on Maccabi Tel-Aviv at Wizink Center (Friday) for EuroLeague Round 17.
