Olympiacos sweeps season series vs Real Madrid to force 4-team tie on top; Bayern stuns Efes – EuroLeague Round 20 recap

Olympiacos swept the season series with Real Madrid (2-0)) and climbed to the top of the EuroLeague standings with a 13-7 record.

The “Reds” relied on their defense, conceded just 60 points and cruised to an easy victory (73-60), despite their shooting struggles (6/26 from beyond the arc).

Olympiacos now leads the way on the table, on a four-team tie with fellow powerhouses Barcelona, Real Madrid and Fenerbahce.

The biggest upset of the night took place at Sinan Erdem Dome, where Bayern Munich made a wild comeback from down 16 (59-43) and edged Anadolu Efes (81-89) to remain alive in the playoff race.

On the contrary, the two-time reigning champions suffered a painful home loss and missed the chance of staying within the playoff spots.

In Kaunas, Zalgiris trailed by five in crunch time (59-64), but closed the game on a 12-2 run to stun Crvena Zvezda (71-66) and make another step towards the playoffs. The Lithuanians extended their winning streak to four games.

In the final match of the night, ASVEL Villeurbanne snapped a five-game losing skid and defeated Armani Milano at Mediolanum Forum (73-79). The Italians remained at the bottom (6-14), while ASVEL improved to 7-13.
