EuroLeague rumors: Shabazz Napier close to joining Panathinaikos

Shabazz Napier is expected to become the newest addition to Panathinaikos’ roster, according to the Greek website SDNA.gr.

The 31-year-old guard is close to signing with the “Greens” in order to bolster their backcourt line, as the team continues to struggle on both ends.

On Sunday, Panathinaikos head coach Dejan Radonjic told media that he is hopeful the club will bring in a new player by the end of the week.

“I hope that we’ll have more players at our disposal, both at our practice next week and in view of the match against Zalgiris Kaunas. We have also found a new player. I hope that we’ll sign him during the next week,” Dejan Radonjic noted.

Shabazz Napier joined Zenit St. Petersburg in the summer of 2021, but he never made his EuroLeague debut due to an injury that ruled him out for the season.

Napier is currently playing in the G-League with the Mexico City Capitals, averaging 16.7 points, 4.6 assists and 2.8 rebounds, on 43% from the field and 34% from beyond the arc.
