Alec Peters helped Olympiacos defeat Maccabi Tel-Aviv at home (95-89) and make another step towards the EuroLeague playoffs.

The American big man had nine points and a couple of big three-pointers in the game, as the “Reds” stayed on top of the EuroLeague standings with a 14-7 record, extending their winning streak to three games.

After the game, Alec Peters spoke with Hedgeout.net about the “Reds” winning streak, their ability to win games in different playing styles as well as his presence in the team. Here is what the versatile forward said:

On the win vs Maccabi Tel-Aviv:

It was an ugly game, we had to do the little things to win the game, they did a great job in offensive rebounds, so we had to do the little things to take the upper hand and eventually claim the victory

On whether this was a statement victory for Olympiacos:

These games are so important. This is the beginning of the second half of the season, where teams try to separate themselves in the standings, we know that, we feel that and every game we do our best so we separate from the other teams at the top

On Olympiacos winning games in multiple playing styles (low-scoring. high-scoring):

Yes, that’s the sign of a good team, as we are able to do different things, we have different players step up in every week, we have a great team and that helps us adapt to multiple styles of basketball

On adapting to the team:

Since my frist day in the team, I love play here, I love playing with the coach, with my teammates, just whatever is needed game to game to do my best and help my team win

On the double-round week and games vs Fenerbahce and Efes:

We have to keep going. This is the time of the year where we need to take care of these games, win these games so we can come closer to the playoffs and secure ou spot in the postseason as early as possible

Alec Peters has appeared in all 21 EuroLeague games this season and is averaging 5.7 points and 2.5 rebounds on 48% from beyond the arc. The American big man will miss Tuesday’s game vs Fenerbahce with an ankle sprain.
