Dimitris Itoudis after Fenerbahce’s blowout home loss to Olympiacos: “We have a lot of miles to reach that level”

Dimitris Itoudis was clearly disappointed by what he saw from his players during Fenerbahce’s blowout home loss to Olympiacos (73-93).

The Greek head coach saw his players play poor basketball on both ends and fail to be competitive from start to finish. Fenerbahce trailed for the entire game and coach Itoudis praised Olympiacos for the impressive way they played on both ends.

“Congratulations to Olympiacos. They played better, they were the better team and they deserved to win, especially when a team on the road scores 17 three-pointers with 60%, that’s an amazing thing. We were trying to really defend but they were better. Obviously, we have a lot of miles to reach that level, but the players tried, we tried hard.

Olympiacos had answers to each and every situation, whatever defense, let’s say, strategically we tried to do, they had answers. They are a great team and deserved to win. When they hit 60% three-pointers in a road game, it says a lot.

Obviously, they were building this in the last three years, so congratulations to them, they deserved to win,” Dimitris Itoudis told media postgame.

After the defeat, Fenerbahce dropped to 13-9 in the standings, while Olympiacos now has the tiebreaker (2-0). The Turks will host ALBA Berlin on Friday (February 3) for Round 23.
